About Us

In 2019, Atlanta faced an identity crisis, striving to grow into a vibrant metropolis while honoring its roots. How could the 404 welcome new residents without sidelining longtime locals? We needed a meeting place—a common ground for all. Black Coffee emerged as that hub, where artists, entrepreneurs, and students from Atlanta’s historic Black colleges gathered over handcrafted beverages. It became a cornerstone of the city’s evolving art scene.

After weathering a global pandemic and serving thousands of lattes, Black Coffee bid farewell to the Castleberry neighborhood in September 2023. We were the first coffee shop in the area for years, and by our departure, three others joined the community. Looking ahead, we sought a new location lacking its own café, and found our next home in Capitol View and Downtown.

Black Coffee Westside

Our newest café is located inside The Vivian apartment complex in the Capital View neighborhood. Positioned on the Westside Extension of the Atlanta Beltline, this shop will serve all the vibes you know and love from early in the morning to late in the evening.

Black Coffee Downtown @ Sweet Auburn

Black Coffee Westside’s little sister has found its home in Sweet Auburn, a historic neighborhood. Nestled in the Haugabrooks Building and part of the new Front Porch ATL food hall, this quaint café offers a unique experience. Patrons can enjoy rotating art exhibits from the Historic District Development Corporation while sipping their coffee, making it a vibrant cultural hub in the City’s downtown.
